“Looking A Lot Like Christmas”
On Monday, as soon as I arrived back from Thanksgiving break, I walked straight from the train station to my microeconomics class with my suitcase and arrived just as the class was starting. After class, I went to the Wade Center Christmas party. We decorated cookies like Wade authors, ate good food, including an unbelieveably chocolatey “bomb.” We also played Catchphrase as you can see. Before I arrived, they set up a beautiful Christmas tree near the front desk. I may have told some of you that the day I flew home, there were just a few falling flakes of snow. Well, the last few days, the snow has actually been sticking.
Last night after the Christmas festival, the snow started falling and by midnight there was a nice layer of snow all over the ground. By the way in a few hours, I’ll be singing in the second night of the Christmas fest, which you can watch live tonight at 6:30 AZ time at www.wheaton.edu/WETN. just click on the “watch live” or “listen live” link. Today everyone has been throwing snowballs and making snowmen and I’ve been playing my Amy Grant, Nat King Cole, and Relient K’s Let It Snow Baby, Let it Reindeer all day. All that to
say, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Just so you know, the picture below is of Sam Cortez, the guy who played Reepicheep in our floor C.S. Lewis raid (which reminds me how excited I am about The Voyage of The Dawn Treader coming out on Friday!) All that to say, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
P.S. It’s also looking like finals week. I’m sure a lot of you have that feeling right now too. One thing I'm working on this week is finishing up my final project for Physics class. Maybe I will give you more details some other time, but until then, here's a quick video of our basic setup:
Hey Daniel!
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Snow?? What's that? That's really cool it's starting to LOOK like Christmas over there. And yay for author cookies and chocolately bombs! Your physics project looks pretty cool. Best of wishes on all your finals. Yep, it's the "finals feeling" here too. I'm sure you'll do great! It was good seeing you last Wednesday; you'll have to come visit us sooner than next spring!!!
I wish I could have seen the first half of the Christmas concert - oh well. I still think you should have used my bike idea for the project. From what Melody has said, I think it would have been easier.
ReplyDeleteIt's starting to look, feel, and sound like Christmas here in Arizona: Christmas lights, a few tree lots, near freezing lows, and Christmas music on the radio. We even had frost on the ground recently! Midterms for Mrs. Fritz's class are coming up soon. It was nice seeing you last weekend!
ReplyDeleteHey Daniel,
ReplyDeleteThe snow looks so pretty! :) I wish it could snow here... Have fun in it! ;) Your Christmas party sounded fun! I have been listening to Relient K's Christmas album too and find that it makes me miss you all so much and think of all the past Christmas's... Your project looked really good. Good luck with your Finals!!! I'll be praying for you. ;) See you next year!!!
In case you're wondering Derek, snow is like frost excet a few hundred times thicker, just kidding. Actually, I'm surprised it even frosted there, I've only seen it happen once or twice in Phoenix. Right now it's about ten degrees, so the snow is great, but the general rule is the same for summer in Phoenix: only go outside if you're walking from one building/car to another building/car.
